3. Piroplasmosis (Babesia ovata Infection)
1) Marked congestion seen on the kidney section derived from heavily infected cattle. No clear distinction of the three layers of the kidney is observed. 2) Liver and enlarged gall bladder seen in heavily infected cattle.
3) Capillary blood vessels in the brain. No accumulation of infected red blood cells is observed as same as the case of B. bigemina (Giemsa staining). 4) Typical feature of B. ovata, showing egg-like round shape.
